The pastors of eight mountaintop churches in Cascade and Sabillasville, Maryland and Blue Ridge Summit and Fairfield, Pennsylvania will host an old-fashion community harvest celebration on October 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Ritchie Community Center in Cascade, Maryland. The purpose of the celebration is to recall the many wonderful memories of times gone-by when most churches held festivals in the fall to celebrate the bounty of the harvest and give thanks for the gift of life. This gathering brings the mountaintop communities together to share in a celebratory program of great music, a time of praise and testimony for God's goodness to us, and great tasting seasonal pies. The blue grass music planned for the program will appeal to all. And a showcase of pies will be available for all to enjoy with lemonade and apple cider. The public is invited to join in this celebration for an afternoon of fellowship, great music, and fabulous food. The event is free, but all are requested to bring a donation of non-perishable food or paper product for the Help Hotline (mountaintop community food bank).
This will be the second combined community church event for 2012. The first event was the June Mountaintop Heritage Day's Community Worship Service. These experiences have brought people in the community together and provided an opportunity for all to interact and get to know one another. The pastors desire to see an even greater sense of community and connectedness among all who live here on the mountaintop. This old-fashion community harvest celebration is another opportunity for our friends and neighbors to interact with one another and have fun, enjoy fellowship, good music and great food at the same time.
The pastors and churches involved are Pastor Janet Comings, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and St. John’s United Church of Christ and Pastor Gary Cox, WCF Church, Sabillasville; Pastor Richard Daughtridge, Jacob’s Church, Fairfield; Pastor Arietta Grimmett, Cascade Community Fellowship, Pastor Mark Hosler, Germantown Church of God, Pastor Sandy Price, St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Cascade; Father Robert Malagesi, St. Rita Catholic Church, and Pastor Warren Rice, Living Word Church, Blue Ridge Summit.
