Thompson's Karate Studio is a family owned business founded in 1990 by Herbert Thompson (a 5th degree Black Belt). Mr. Thompson has been teaching Tae Kwon Do and related martial arts programs to the Washington County and Franklin County areas for over 20 years. Thompson's Karate Studio has been teaching adults and children Tae Kwon Do and self defense by incorporating other styles such as Jujitsu, Akido, and Krav Maga tactical training into our program. We are professionally affiliated with the Martial Arts Industry Association. Our staff attend seminars to provide the best possible programs for our students.
Our specialized Mighty Ninjas program includes age-appropriate material that's designed to target the stages of development in children from ages 4 to 6. This program was professionally developed to teach children important life skills in a fun and entertaining way. Between pre-school and early elementary education, children are building 8 basic fundamental skills including, focus, teamwork, control, memory, balance, discipline, fitness, and coordination. Studies have shown that these 8 skills are developed the most within this age group, which increases the child's growth and development dramatically. The Mighty Ninjas Program targets these skills with a comprehensive training system that was specially designed to generate maximum results. Any child who completes this program will have an edge in their early childhood, which will make the transition into adolescence much easier.
This program is well rounded touching on all the things that a person of this age could want to hear and see. Our Youth Program includes age-appropriate material that was designed to target the stages of development in children in this age group. This program as professionally developed to improve kid's self-esteem, self-discipline, personal development, fitness and flexibility, awareness of surroundings, and confidence. Martial arts are not like team sports because the emphasis is on developing the individual's self-esteem, not the team's winning record. The belt system is the key. When kids earn their belts it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves.
